EPIC: How to submit a request to merge duplicate MRNs or mark MRN for merge
This article describes the steps to mark Epic accounts for merge. This is for non-urgent merges of duplicate patients.

How to mark for merge in Epic - Duplicate Patient
- Click on the Epic button in the top-left corner. Search for and select the Mark Patients for Merge activity.
- Search for one of patient records needing to be merged and click Accept. The first record is generally the one being merged into the second record.
- Search for the other patient record and click Accept again. This records MRN is the one that will be recommended to be kept.
- At the Mark for Merge screen. Choose what information should be kept, choose a Reason, and then add a Comment if applicable.
- Click on Mark for Merge to complete the merge request.
When the patient's chart is now opened in Epic, the right-hand side will indicate Marked for Merge until it has been completed.
If you are unable to perform the steps above, submit a request to have duplicate MRNs merged, using the Service Center Request form:
