Finding patients benefits.

To determine patient benefits when referral information is not reflected, one alternative approach is to examine the benefits tab. This tab provides a comprehensive history of patient benefits within the Epic system. If the patient possesses a Medi-Cal member ID, it typically begins with the digit '9', followed by seven numeric digits, an alphabetical character, and concludes with a check digit. Alternatively, the ID may initiate with 'XDJ' (for example, 91234567A, XDJ9124567G, 91245678F).

Utilizing the Medi-Cal ID is advantageous as it will accompany the patient consistently throughout the duration of their benefits.

If its reflects a green check mark it means when it was last active. Please use the Medi-cal portal to verify the insurance.

For private/commercial insurance, please verify on the portal. You can always adjust the portal to Name and date of birth if the Member ID isn't coming up.

Charts> Misc Report> Demographics + Insurance

The information should be populated. If it is not, please reach out to the patient's parents.
